Event Description

  • Do you agree that libraries should evolve to meet the current skills needs and to equip their staff and users with the skills relevant for today’s digital environment?
  • Are you curious to learn about the emerging job profiles in the library sector?
  • If you work in the library sector, would you like to upgrade your own competences and stay competitive?
  • You are a library director, and you are thinking of organising a professional development training for your staff to offer innovative services in your library?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, our webinar is for you!

The Biblio Consortium is inviting you to join the webinar on 31 March at 10:00-11:45. The project partners will talk about the new trends and requirements in the professional development of librarians; present the findings of the research on skills and training needs in the library sector and two emerging job profiles – Community Engagement and Communication Officer and Digital Transformation Facilitator. They will present the training methodology  and curricula for these two roles, as well as the upcoming Biblio MOOC for library professionals.

Biblio “Boosting digital skills and competences for librarians in Europe” is an Erasmus+ / KA2 / Sector Skills Alliances in vocational education and training project, which addresses the skills gap in the library sector due to digital transformation that is changing the role of libraries and library professionals. The project targets library professionals and unemployed people in the library sector by enabling them to offer innovative services for users.  It facilitates the acquisition of digital and transversal skills for library professionals by setting up a system for skills assessment, learning offer, validation, and recognition. It is implemented during 2019-2022 by a consortium of 10 partners from Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, and Latvia.
