Under the title Jobs for Youth and Ageing Online network leaders representing more then 25.000 telecentres gathered at the Mercure Grand Hotel in Warsaw for the fifth Telecentre-Europe Summit that took place during 17-18 October 2012 and was co-hosted by the Information Society Development Foundation (FRSI).
The event was opened by a video message from Commissioner László Andor, responsible for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion.
The summit focused on how telecentres impact youth and older people, by providing the right eSkills, by the use of social media and by encouraging social innovation, towards better jobs and an improved quality of life.
Plenary sessions dealt issues like Jobs & Skills, Socio-Economic impact & Funding Opportunities. During the event, the Telecentre-Europe Award Ceremony took place again.
Capacity building for libraries & telecentres was also on the agenda, and parallel sessions with groups discussions on the plenary themes and on Social Media & Social Innovation, Youth, Women & Ageing Online.
Besides the plenary & parallel sessions, the summit offered a project marketplace, thus giving the opportunity to its Member Organizationsto showcase a selection of 10 of the best digital empowerment projects run at national or regional level.
Apart from the program, Telecentre-Europe's annual summit was above all a forum and networking opportunity to share project ideas, build future partnerships, and disseminate & highlight results of all participants' ongoing and/or completed projects.
