What we do as an organization (100-word description)
Telecentre-Europe is an ENGO representing non-formal adult education networks and providers of digital training, certification and opportunities for vulnerable people (e.g. telecentres, ICT community centres, public libraries). The main organizational goal is to support these centres by fostering knowledge sharing and learning amongst its members in order to increase their impact, effectiveness and profile throughout Europe and thereby improve the quality of life, employability and social and civic participation of the citizens they serve. T-E’s activities include development & promotion of learning tools & certifications; advocacy; leading, partnering and facilitating EU funded multilateral projects; running yearly the European Get Online Week campaign; organisation of an Annual Summit and a General Assembly of Members; organization & promotion of T-E Awards; staff exchanges, peer-learning. T-E has 39 member organisations representing more than 20,000 training centres in 28 countries.

ECDL Foundation position paper Perception and Reality: Measuring Digital Skills in Europe

The paper analyses the results of studies carried out by the ECDL National Operators in Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Switzerland. The findings reveal that people tend to over-estimate their skills and that significant skills gaps exist even in the analysed countries, which are usually considered to be digitally advanced.
