Yet another person opens a Facebook account. All under the supervision of young people from the municipality’s recreational center in…See More

Digidel 2013 reached 3.425 people during Get Online Week!

During the campaign “Get Online Week” Swedish libraries, study associations and companies across the country made extra efforts to get more people to discover the potential of the Internet. In total we reached 3425 people persons through the “Get Online Week”. The target was 2000. Never before have so many Swedes done so much at the same time to make people try the Internet. The result was much above our expectations.

What we do as an organization (100-word description)
Digidel 2013 is a campaign to increase the share of the population actively using digital services. Almost 80 per cent of the Swedish population regularly uses the Internet. One and a half million Swedes do not.

The campaign is formed by a network of NGOs, libraries, companies and authorities. The objective of this joint effort is that 500 000 individuals presently not using the Internet will get online by the end of 2013. The campaign would also like to improve the benefit from digital services in the daily life of those already online. The aim is that everybody should not only be able to use digital services, but that they will both want and dare to do it.

Get Online Week 2013 - Sweden - succes stories - App school at the Åtvidaberg Library

Posted on April 25, 2013 at 14:57 0 Comments

We held an app school at which we taught participants what an app is, how they work and how to download them, and provided tips about our favorite apps in the categories of business and pleasure. On Friday, we set up a table and two tablet computers at the market on the local square. A number of curious visitors were given the opportunity to examine the tablet computers and many more wanted to come to the library and test our tablets prior to possibly purchasing their own.
