What we do as an organization (100-word description)
Making IT Personal – Joining the DOTs (MITP:JtD) is a scheme funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) and the UK government and led by Barnsley MBC with partners across South Yorkshire. It aims to help local people use technology (such as mobile phones, cameras and computers) to make life a little bit easier. It recruits volunteers called DOTs (Digital Outreach Trainers) who spread their technology knowhow and share their skills with others who want to learn.
What ICT or e-skills training programs does my organization offer (if any)?
We rely on informal learning to transfer ICT skills. Instead, our training focuses on mentoring skills, aiming to ensure that the trainee learns the e-skills they want or need, rather than those deemed necessary by the trainer.
