It was one of Telecentre.org commitments to Arabic language
communities and in the Middle Eastern-North African (MENA) region that a portal will be developed to facilitate knowledge sharing in the region. Telecentre.org in collaboration with the community facilitators at Egypt ICT Trust Fund is jointly managing this portal. The site is already full of content and activities. Is anyone going to be at the forum in Paris at the end of the month - Im going to be speaking on Mobile Phones - Form and Function - Issues in choosing a handset for disabled users - It would be great to meet up with anyone from the community and chat through areas of interest

The Asia-Pacific Telecentre Network (APTN), a collaborative initiative of telecentre.org and the United Nations' Economic and Social Commission for the Asia-Pacific (UN-ESCAP), was officially launched at the United Nations Conference Center in Bangkok on 19 November 2008, during a side event of the First Session of the Committee on ICT of ESCAP.

The European Commission have published the final report of the eInclusion Conference in Vienna in December. It is available here, and on the eInclusion site, and the Telecentre-Europe launch event is prominently mentioned in the Executive Summary of the report, and also a detailed summary of Katia's workshop is also featured. Day 5 started with a morning meeting. Yvonne Garcia-Flores from Intel was very kind to accept Tess’s invitation to meet me and talk about how Intel is involved in PhilCecNet.
Intel chairs the committee on infrastructure, as part of the PhilCecNet’s executive council. What they do is to facilitate infrastructure solutions for eCentres, by connecting with various Telecommunications providers, identified as potential stakeholders of eCentres.

If during the third day we’ve traveled to the northern part of Manila, next day was planned for the southern area, specifically Bulacan area where we have visited an eSkwela center. We were accompanied there by the eSkwela program Director, Ms Maria Melizza D. The third day started early in the morning with a trip to the northern area of Metro Manila, where we had our first meeting at PCCARD (The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development) in Los Banos, Laguna. The day started with a presentation of eLGU (Jumpstarting Electronic Governance in Local Government), an initiative of CICT that assists local governments in the smooth transition to eGovernance. Warm greetings from Manila to all!
