EOS Foundation has kick-started today – 23 March 2015 – the annual Get Online Week digital inclusion campaign – locally known under the name of Hai pe Net!
The campaign has brought together 166 telecentres, schools, libraries and Public Internet Access Points and is being organized under the patronage of the Ministry of Information Society. The Minister of MIS, Mr. Sorin Mihai Grindeanu declared:
“Romania needs digital inclusion initiatives like Hai pe Net (Get Online Week)!, we should be running them on the long term as it is crucial for citizens to use computers and the internet. We all know that the IT sector is creating jobs at an unprecedented rate, and we have a responsibility to keep up with the challenges brought by the information society. Last year, we were ranked in the top countries participating in this campaign. I hope that this year we will achieve results at least as good as last year, and why not, to continue to keep the interest high on the digital inclusion agenda”.
The National Association of Librarians and Public Libraries of Romania (ANBPR) is one of the national partners of the campaign! Many libraries have taken on seriously their task on facilitating change in their communities, and they understand just how important technology and the internet is in their endeavour. Ioana Crihana, Executive Director of ANBPR says: „We are participating at this campaign for the 5th consecutive year - it is one of the campaigns which ism ost awaited by our communities – and we are witnessing a good growth of participation year on year. Digital inclusion is at the heart of our work in the libraries.”
Stay tuned and follow our activities, events, meetings, workshops and online activity during the best digital inclusion week of the Year!
