I am preparing for my flight out of Barcelona after three days of work with the steering committee of telecentre Europe. You might recall – from my blogs elsewhere, that I went to Riga in April for TLF-Europe, where the network expanded and set new targets with a benchmark at Barcelona June 2008. Yes, this was the occasion. We reviewed documents and strategies developed since Riga.
This meeting was a great opportunity for the steering committee to reconnect. You see, the committee (composed of members from Romania, Spain, Poland, Belgium, United Kingdom and Russia) have been discussing issues on a weekly conference call. In my view, they had resolved a number of issues albeit with challenges that working with any technology might provide. Reflecting upon the importance of this Barcelona meeting, one member said “…we have done a lot more than we achieved through conference calls in the last 3 months” well, there you are.
The committee developed a work plan, network services, advocacy plan and agreed long term strategy for network management. They also ably represented telecentres at the epractice workshop organised by e-inclusion program of the European Union at Esplai.
...detailed report from steering committee will follow shortly.
