Let me introduce myself to all of you. I am Lize De Clercq, assigned by telecentre.org and Esplai Foundation to be your online communication facilitator. (Those that were at the Telecentre Leaders Forum in Riga will certainly remember me as lize-the-cameragirl.) This blogpost is a little report on the community’s activity of last week:
Back home from the Telecentre Leaders Forum in Riga, a lot of participants inmediately signed in as a member of www.telecentreeurope.ning.com, this online space that was created as an outcome of the Riga session on “communication tools for knowledge sharing”.
At the session, participants advocated for interactive blogging with tag search possibility, a functionality to upload documents, RSS feeds, discussion forums, and a message board including chat to connect to individuals. Only a limited use of the telecentre-europe email list was pointed out as effective, and only for punctual distribution of short information about network activity.
In Riga, www.ning.com was proposed as a social network service that could offer all the functionalities needed. As for today, our “ning thing” counts 39 members (more than half of the Riga participants have already joined!) and happened to be an easy-to-use and popular tool to post pictures, send greetings and get the names upon the faces of participants. Some members truly felt in love with this tool and created workgroups, started a discussion, uploaded files and dressed their page with a nice look & feel.
You still didn’t join ning? Just sign up at www.telecentreeurope.ning.com and create a password, and membership approval wil be sent back to you as soon as possible. Once you’re signed in, feel free to upload your photo, fill your profile and invite others to join!
