Nina Pejič from Simbioza and Alessandra Accogli from ALL DIGITAL presented together two of the current projects in which ALL DIGITAL is involved. The idea was to create synergies between two projects that are similar regarding their aims and scope and target involved.
Both ICTSkills4All and ICT4the Elderly aim at fostering the digital skills of old adults aged 55 years and over. Of course, the projects have their own special features and that is what Alessandra and Nina tried to explain in the 5 minutes presentation at their disposal.
ICT Skills 4 All targets those adults who have minimal or no engagement with digital technology and it aims to test which one is the best methodology between the inter-generational approach, where seniors learn from youngsters and the peer-to-peer approach where seniors learn from other seniors. This will be tested through a face-to-face training. The project is also developing an online platform which will serve as support for the participants to the training as well as for all those adults that have a minimal level of digital skills. The platform has been developed through a user-centred process where the main concern was to take into account the specific users’ needs.
The development of the online platform and face-to-face training is based on a previous research carried out by the partners whose results are two reports that are online on the project website.
ICT 4 the Elderly, focuses on those adults who already reached at least medium or higher digital skills level. The project is based on the value of sustainability, which is especially visible in two aspects: our pilot participants will not only help the project to perfect its curriculum but they will also be its ambassadors - they are the multipliers, talkers, teachers and community leaders inside their environment, which will lead to the natural transfer of skills learned at pilot. Moreover, the project uses the concept of wikis for its presence (besides webpage) online. This means that the content of learning materials will actually be available on Wikipedia itself, and will connect to the PDFs containing more detailed information and some exercises for each session.
The two projects are still ongoing, but they are proving to be very inspiring for our community of adult learners! Follow their progress on the projects’ websites and FB pages!
