Bangladesh is largely an agriculture based economy where a major portion of its population is directly or indirectly involved in agricultural activities. However, this sector has largely remained unaffected in terms of advancement of modern technologies and ICTs.
With the aim of finding a solution for market linkages in the field of agriculture and also keeping in line with the government’s vision of a digital Bangladesh, BIID has partnered with an online platform named the “Market Linkage Program”, which has been developed by a leading telecom operator in Bangladesh.
This platform, which is the first of its kind in Bangladesh, will extend the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the field of agro-business in the country. Its core objective is to provide our e-Krishok members & other farmers an alternative market place where they will be able to sell their products online simply through internet & using their mobile phones, in due time without having to wait for middle men, thus reducing wastage of perishable goods.
This platform will also enhance transparency of the market in the long run.
