BRIGHTS National workshop on Global Citizenship Education promotion through digital storytelling

On the 28th and 29th of April 2018, teachers and trainers from all over Italy gathered together to take part in the BRIGHTS National workshop in Foligno. It has been a great opportunity to work together around the topics of the Global Citizenship Education. Ten people attended the workshop, and they will be now engaged in the realization of digital stories with their pupils. Those teachers and trainers come from very diverse contexts: from formal institutions such as public schools to private organizations working with young students. It was also a great opportunity to share different point of views and discuss how digital storytelling can be address with students.

Participants were first introduced to the BRIGHTS methodology, and then they were required to work on their personal digital story. The work plan of the activities carried out included:

  • an introduction to digital storytelling and symbolism of the images,
  • story circle and sharing of personal anecdotes,
  • storyboard setting,
  • collection of digital material (images and audio),
  • editing of the material in the video editing software.

At the end of the two full days of the workshop, teachers and trainers were able to and create their stories and share it.

The two days of work led to a fruitful and creative experience for both the tutor and the participants. Sharing personal stories was a very useful tool to approach GCE topics: really interesting discussions emerged from the workshop. Now that participants have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills they are ready to apply the BRIGHTS methodology with young students. It's their turn to create digital stories on GCE sharing their experience!

The BRIGHTS Awards have been launched on the website for the participants to the project: young students from all over Europe will have the opportunity to win a trip to Brussels!

You didn't take part in the project but you have something you'd like to share? We want to hear your voice, too!

Please visit BRIGHTS website and learn more about what we are doing!
