Digital skill sessions in Cyprus for 1000+ educators during the COVID-19 lockdown period

During the lockdown period in Cyprus, which started on March 16th, the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) and the ECDL Cyprus personnel continued working remotely from their homes.

Immediately to the lockdown period, free of charge distance learning sessions were introduced with the support of our members. These were offered to trainers, educators and the general public in order to support them to their personal development. To date, more than 20 sessions have been offered to more than 1000 participants in topics related to digital skills, educational resources, training methods and material, online training tools and various software presentation and implementation tips. It should be noted that although the lockdown measures have been suspended, due to the high demand course continue to be offered.

In addition, the Cyprus Computer Society has joined forces with the #supportCY initiative where businesses and NGOs supported and continue to support the State through various initiatives against COVID-19.

Unfortunately, due to the current pandemic situation, all our major public events have been postponed or cancelled for this year, such as Robotex Cyprus, the 1st Technological Summer Camp, WRO Cyprus and the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Informatics. At the same time, our online activities and events continue to be implemented on full speed such as the training of the Cyprus Cyber Security team and the Cyprus Informatics Olympiad.
