The eMedia – Media literacy and Digital Citizenship for all project met for their fourth project training on December 9th-13th. The training took place in Riga, Latvia and was hosted by the University of Latvia Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy.
The training focused on online expression, and the outcomes of the training will be shared to stakeholders in digital education for young people across Europe, including with the ALL DIGITAL network for the 2021 General Assembly in Brussels.
The consortium has worked together to develop a booklet on teaching robotics in schools, which will shortly be published and available for educators across Europe. The booklet will be supported by a short five-hour long modular online course available to educators to deepen their understanding of teaching robotics in school. Consortium partner Scuola du Robotica produced an excellent series of instructional videos, which will be included in the course, ready in early spring.
The training at University of Latvia was supported by one of the largest civil society organisations in Italy ARCI. The consortium partners teach and support community radio in Florence, Italy, part of the meeting included a live radio interview from Latvia to Radio Nova in Florence. While we may think of a lot of online expression these days taking place on social media platforms, structured forms of online expression are very important to developing digital skills and being ready for the world of work. Furthermore, the realm of social media is advancing so far, it is better to focus on expression in general rather than activities for some platforms. The partners have started work towards their third and final booklet on online expression.
