Head of the Omnia Point of La Seu d'Urgell, Ester Collado, was formally presented with her award for the Most Outstanding Telecentre Woman Manager for the Europe region by Telecentre.org Foundation (TCF).
The award is part of the Telecentre Women: Digital Literacy Campaign, a joint program of TCF and the International Telecommunications Union, which seeks to provide at least 1 million with digital literacy training and recognizes the efforts of outstanding women operators and managers in the telecentre movement worldwide (Note: Aside from Europe, winners were also recognized in the Asia-Pacific, Africa, Eurasia, Middle East and North Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean regions).
The recognition ceremony for Ms. Collado took place on March 5, 2012, as part of the activities during the Regional Telecentre Network Leaders Meeting that took place in from March 5-7 in Sant Boi de Llobregat, near Barcelona, Spain.
As part of the recognition, Ms. Collado received a plaque of recognition and a netbook along with a goody bag of products from TCF. In an interview taken after the ceremony (see video link), Ms. Collado took the time to highlight "the work that all the promoters and activators of Omnia Network in Catalonia [do]."
