February of association „Langas į ateitį“ – with focus on Safer Internet Day

On February 6, more than 140 countries around the world celebrated Safer Internet Day (SID). Lithuania was no exception. With the slogan “Create, connect and share respect: a better internet starts with you” Lithuanian Safer Internet Centre (part of which is association “Langas į ateitį”) with bunch of partner organizations focused on respectful behavior and critical thinking while creating and sharing information online.


Main SID event

The main national Safer Internet Day event “Everything starts with us!” took place in National Conference Centre LITEXPO focusing on 5th and 7th grade pupils, their teachers and parents.

While separate program was organized for teachers and parents, students actively participated in carousel sessions of various safer internet activities: painting the longest picture, robotics, photo studio, programming game "Scottie go", interactive floors, walls and tables, Youth panel activity promoting #togetherforrespect campaign. The event attracted more than 300 participants representing 37 schools across the country.

Additionally, round table discussion was organized about strengthening national cooperation within the safer internet project in Lithuania. Representatives of the current project consortium members, Advisory Board and Steering Committee members were participating in this discussion.

Safer Internet Week

Besides the main SID event, safer internet activities lasted the entire week of February 5-9. Events included:

  • National TV and radio shows
  • Promotional campaign for the eSafety Label
  • Safer internet activities in public libraries
  • "Safer Internet Week in my school" campaign
  • The activities of the "eTwinning" programme
  • Social media campaigns with internet safety test and videos.


The Safer Internet Day 2018 event and its activities were supported by lots of friends and partners.
