Get Online Week 2015 in Oreskovica, Serbia

Cool Math Duel

Primary school “Djura Jaksic” Oreskovica is a small rural school in eastern Serbia. During the Get Online Week 2015 teachers and students realized many interesting activities.

Mathematics competition was organized for students of the 2nd and 4th grade. Students used mobile application “Cool Math Duel” to test their knowledge of addition and subtraction. In this way, students played and learned. Also, they find out that mobile phone could be used for learning, not only for fun.


Making movies and learning about internet safety

Students of the 2nd and 4th grade also used Movie Maker to create movies and animations. They recorded text, created drawings, made photographs, searched photographs on Internet, edited photographs by Microsoft Office Picture Manager and, at the end of activity, they used Movie Maker to create their first movie and animations. After that, they presented their work.

These students also learned about Internet Safety in two ways. They watched cartoon animation about problem situations which their peers have on the Internet. And they participated in a workshop which the members of Student Parliament (7th and 8th grades students) realized for them.

Student Parliament session via Skype

During the Get Online Week 2015 Student Parliament used Skype to share opinion about the school with members of Student Parliament from another school. Also, Skype was used for the implementation activities within the professional orientation. Students talked via Skype with people of different occupations about their job.

     Grannies learn how to use Internet

Students from the 1st to 4th grade in Vosanovac realized a workshop for their grandmothers. They taught their grandmothers how to use Google and YouTube to find many interesting things.

Also, these students presented to their peers educational resources on Internet, which was interesting for them.

Students from 1st to 4th grade in Dobrnje organised a workshop “Modern and traditional” with their mothers. They showed to their mothers how to use Internet, and their mothers showed to them how to do some traditional things.

And during the Get Online Week 2015 teachers used ICT in their classes. Students learned history, biology, English, French, chemistry, physics, computer science, geography, music using Prezi presentations, educational resources and educational games from Internet. In this way students learned school lessons, but they also learned how to use Internet for learning.

Students of the 8th grade prepared for final exam of Serbian language and mathematics by using tests on the Internet.

This Get Online Week was realized for the first time in the Primary school “Djura Jaksic” Oreskovica and results were excellent. The students learned and had fun and developed the 21st century skills.
