Since October 2019, the EVZ Foundation supports six Polish and German projects who work on innovative digital formats for historical-civic education. In autumn of 2020, we want to celebrate the conclusion of this first year of the funding program digital // memory.
How can educational institutions, museums, memorial sites and civil society organizations preserve memory in a digital age? What kinds of digital tools can successfully engage an audience and also teach about history? These and others questions will be at the center of our online event on 30 September 2020. Join us to discuss today’s challenges and opportunities of a digital historical-civic education!
Our online symposium features a video about the digital // memory program which provides insight into the results of and the people involved in the first funding year. See for yourself the variety of different digital solutions developed by the project teams in Poland and Germany. Discuss with us how these kinds of tools can help tackle problems like Anti-Semitism and encourage critical thinking by using technology. The second part of the conference will show in more detail how museums face today’s challenges especially during the Corona pandemic. The POLIN – Museum of the History of the Polish Jews in Warsaw will provide exclusive insight into their (new) digital strategies. The digital culture expert Sylwia Żółkiewska is confirmed as host and will guide us through the program. Let us exchange ideas, experiences, concerns and hopes for the usage of digital formats during the pandemic and post-pandemic times!
