"Langas į ateitį" started a new international project for seniors

Langas į ateitį is continuously participating in international projects that encourage the exchange of experiences with partners from other European countries.

The new project "Use IT and enjoy" will start in August 2012 and will be implemented with partner organizations from Sweden and Denmark.

Only a part of the elderly in the Baltic region use information technologies in their everyday life: only half of the people aged 50-75 and one-third of the elderly of over 75. The project partners started this initiative to highlight the issue of encouraging seniors for digital inclusion. The purpose of the project is to explore methodologies & facilitate the development of motivations for the elderly to take up digital inclusion.

"Since 2002, Langas į ateitį has been organizing ICT trainings that attract participants of various age groups. We are glad to notice that recently more and more elderly discover the need to learn using computer, internet and e-services. Using the good experience of our partners from the Scandinavian countries we will add new attractive methods to our ICT trainings". – says Loreta Križinauskienė, Managing Director of Langas į ateitį.

Collaboration and sharing of experiences is expected to highlight the partner countries' similarities and differences for engaging elderly with the use of information technologies. Discovering new means of motivation to use ICT in everyday life is also expected.

As a result of this collaboration, a package of best practice examples will be prepared focusing on engagement and motivational methodologies of ICT usage by elderly. The collected knowledge will help to address the barriers to digital inclusion currently faced by older citizens across the partner countries and across Europe.

The project is partially funded by the NordPlus Adult programme and will start at 1 August, 2012 and last for 22 months.
