Baltic Olympiad: Latvian young programmers win six medals!

The 20th Baltic Olympiad in Informatics, took place in Palanga , Lithuania on April 26-30.  

Sixty secondary school students took part in this competition representing  nine countries: Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Poland and Germany.

The second result overall (467 points out of 600 possible) and the gold medal were achieved  by Alexei Zajakins from the Riga Secondary School 89th, Grade 11th. The Silver Medal was awarded to  Ingus Janis Pretkalnins (Riga State Gymnasium No. 1, 9th grade), while the bronze medal went to Peteris Pakalns (Cesis State Grammar School, Grade 11th) and three of the Riga State Gymnasium No. 1 students: Alexey Popov (grade 10th), Mihael Smolins and Kristaps Civkulis (grade 11th).

The  Latvian team is supported by LIKTA (Latvian Information and communication technology association ) and ICT industry partners :   “Accenture Latvia”, “Exigen Services Latvia” “Lattelecom”, “ABC Software”, “Cube”, “DPA”, “Progmeistars”, “Tom Sawyer Software“ and “Transporta un sakaru institūts”.
