The Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs is a major initiative within the DAE. It was launched in March 2013 and was hosted by President José Manuel Barroso Vice Presidents Neelie Kroes and Antonio Tajani, Commissioners László Andor and Androula Vassiliou as well as Richard Bruton, Irish Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation.
During the Digital Agenda Assembly in Dublin on 20 June 2013, Telecentre-Europe pledged for the establishment of 10 Local Coalitions for Digital Jbs in 10 EU countries. Romania is one of the 10 implementation partners supporting the development of a strong and sustainable Local Coalition for Digital Jobs in Romania in partnership with government, academia, IT industry partners and selected civil society organisations. This pledge will enable the goals of the Grand Coalition to drill down into the specificity of Romania.
Within this context, the Local Coalition in Romania was launched during the Future Communities event held in Bucharest on 31 October in the presence of Commissioner Neelie Kroes and Mr Dan Nica, Minister for Information Society. The Local Coalition approach was briefly presented to the academic, industry and civil society audience.
Many partners have already indicated interest to join the Local Coalition for Digital Jobs in Romania. Amongst them, ANBPR (National Association of Public Libraries in Romania) have already agreed to partner in one of the IT training awareness raising campaigns and Microsoft who have donated, through a key partnership with Telecentre-Europe, a number of 1000 MOS and MTA vouchers for underprivileged youth wishing to follow up a career in the IT sector.
Thank you Telecentre-Eurpe for all the support during the launch event!
