In a desire to encourage and inspire community members to continue sharing knowledge about telecentre and ICT4D initiatives across the world, telecentre.org has launched the search for the telecentre.org Idol 2010, taking after the highly popular show, American Idol. This initiative seeks to honour the valuable contributions of members that have enriched the telecentre.org website and transformed it into a valuable knowledge resource.

The search will run a span of one year during which significant contributions from members will be recognized with a token from telecentre.org. At the end of the year, the member with the most number of tokens will be declared as the telecentre.org Idol of the Year.

Significant contributions are defined as follows:
a) blogging relevant stories;
b) launching successful discussion forums;
c) participating actively in discussion forums and posting meaningful replies to at least three discussions;
d) uploading albums containing relevant photos with appropriate captions and descriptions;
e) uploading relevant videos with appropriate captions and descriptions;
f) posting important and relevant events; and
g) creating and efficiently managing a relevant group.

Telecentre practitioners from all over the world, including Europe, can take part and vie for the “Idol” title. But first you need to be a member of telecentre.org community. Sign up now.
