Safer Internet Week 2020, which comes to an end today, once again joined forces across Lithuania to work "Together for a better internet". The aim is to promote a responsible, respectful, critical and creative use of digital technologies. In 2012 Langas į ateitį initiated European Safer Internet Day to prolong into Safer Internet week.
For two months we were busy preparing for the campaign in LT which offered a lot of new activities for kids and adults online and in the premises of public libraries and social partners.
We would like to share most interesting activities:
Internet crooks (live broadcast)
One of the key topics of this year's campaign, especially for elder audience, is the online scammer. Our social partner Association of Lithuanian Banks and experts from the Bank of Lithuania shared examples of everyday situations and at the same time advised on how to protect against various types of cyber fraud.
Influencer - Is It Really A Dream Lifestyle? ( event at Vilnius Techpark+live)
A group of social network opinion makers discussed on the glory and the dark side of the influencer‘s lifestyle.
Sexting: Game or Crime? (online broadcast)
Perhaps the boldest topic of this year Safer Internet week had to do with the menacing problem among youth - sexting. The phenomenon of individuals sharing their sexualized photos publicly and voluntarily in public, usually on social networks, was discussed by psychologists, TV show actors and experts.
Safer Internet Day 2020 // CYBERteens
Langas į ateitį and partners in collaboration with the social innovator community ChangeMakersON, celebrated the SAFER INTERNET DAY in Lithuania in a completely different way and invited to work together with the experts to build a true Safer Internet Idea Generator.
The 20 selected teams from different schools shared 6 different challenges and like real detectives they navigated the darkest issues in the unsafe Internet. Throughout the event, each team were actively pursuing their goal of learning from true failure stories, participating in social detective, and applying creative design knowledge to develop their idea. For up to 3 hours, participants immersed themselves in creative workshops: with the help of over 30 experts, they had opportunity to try "startups shoes": to create the primary stage of their own idea and pitch it to jury. All day participants improved their skills in teamwork, public speaking and creativity.
The best 5 teams were awarded with special prizes:
Educational Activities for Local Community in public libraries and their branches plan to involve at least 10 000 visitors to participate online as well as in the interactive activities of Safer Internet Week 2020 in LT.
