On March 30, 2017, in Chisinau was launched Sign Language Dictionary of the Republic of Moldova.
This work was conducted under a project implemented by the Deaf Association of Moldova and Alliance INFONET. The project was funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, SDC.
This work, due to its size and nature, is a valuable premiere in Moldova’s specialized literature. The dictionary comprises over 2000 signs presented in the most practical and efficient form. The words are clustered per topics and are listed in alphabetic order. The description of signs in Romanian, Russian and English is accompanied by pictures, which ensures the accessibility of the dictionary to a wide range of beneficiaries. The dictionary also comes as significant support for specialists, sign-language translators, students, doctors and social assistants, as well as all those interested in studying the sign language, be they from inside or outside the country.
