GOW in Germany: “Surfing with Tablets” in a meeting centre for senior citizens

The Internet is not an exclusive club for the younger generation, also for senior citizens, the digital world has to offer many advantages. Since 2012, Stiftung Digitale Chancen and E-Plus Gruppe collaborate in a project that provides Tablet PCs for senior citizens. Here, retirement homes are equipped for a period of four to six weeks with tablets, so their habitants or visitors can get to know mobile Internet. According to the motto "Surfing with Tablets", the tablet group of the AWO meeting center Schiller Park will present their experience with the project on Friday as part of the Get Online Week 2015. Subsequently, the participants can visit various workshops to virtually try out the handy devices. Employees of Stiftung Digitale Chancen and the AWO meeting center will provide tips and tricks for working with the tablets. In the "Creative Workshop", participants can take photos and videos or in the group "Participate!", familiarize with political participation opportunities at EU level.
