Are you the telecentre manager, tutor, network manager or telecentre network we want to celebrate?

During our summit, we want to recognize European telecentre people behind the scenes and celebrate outstanding digital inclusion efforts and achievements of our telecentre community.

That's why this year and for the first time, Telecentre-Europe and its partner Microsoft are launching the Telecentre-Europe Awards competition.

If you think it's about time someone you know or your telecentre network have their accomplishments recognised and maybe win an Xbox 360/Kinect Bundle as a prize, send in your application before September 30th, following one of the four Award Categories:

"Best European telecentre manager"

Telecentre managers are usually the ones that make things happen at the grassroots level. They take up all those online tools, courses, and services and bring them to their communities. Their knowledge and contribution is priceless to digital inclusion and one of their greatest strengths is that they reach the hard-to-reach, bringing opportunities forward and enrich hundreds of lives.

» To apply for this award you only need to describe:

  • Your demonstrated attitude, performance level and innovative approach towards the digital inclusion at grassroots level (max. 500 words).
  • Your contribution to the development of the managed telecentre (max. 500 words).

"Best European telecentre tutor"

Telecentres would have no role without their hardworking tutors, who are in the first line of digital inclusion by eradicating fear of using new technologies, thus bringing technology in people’s lives. They put people online and teach them the right behavior, opening new perspectives, enabling better jobs, and enhancing their communities.

» To apply for this award you only need to describe:

  • Your demonstrated expertise on delivering digital education, and on empowering people to use new technologies (max. 500 words).
  • A specific situation where your teaching skills were used at a maximum to achieve the expected results (max. 500 words).

"Best European telecentre network manager"

Telecentre-Europe includes some of the best telecentre networks across Europe. The staff at these national or regional networks managing bodies build the perfect environments for individual telecentres to learn from each other, to access funds, and to build their capacities. They often share their knowledge and expertise at the European level, and contribute to the European policies and strategies on digital inclusion.

» To apply for this award you only need to describe:

  • Your demonstrated attitude, performance level and innovative approach towards the digital inclusion (max. 500 words).
  • Your contribution to the development of the managed telecentre network (max. 500 words).

"Best European telecentre initiative"

Telecentre network initiatives are usually based on innovative ideas on how the digital gap can be closed in their respective communities, regions or countries. If it’s either a partnership, an awareness campaign, or an educational project, these initiatives involve a lot of planning, networking, PR plus a good percentage of voluntary time and work from the telecentre network staff.

» To apply for this award your telecentre network only needs to describe:

  • Your initiative, focusing on the innovative aspects, and the impact it brought to the target group/s.
  • A personal story of a beneficiary of the initiative. Focus on how the initiative contributed to the personal / professional development.

The competition is only open for Telecentre-Europe’s formal members and the Award Ceremony will take place on October 27th, 2011 during our summit in Brussels.

If your telecentre or telecentre network is not yet an official Telecentre-Europe member, this is the ideal moment to formalize your membership!
