On December 18th, Telecentre-Europe, together with Startup Weekend Europe and Digitalmuse.org, was invited to give a "Speed Date" presentation at the 3rd high level meeting of the European Digital Champions, organized by the European Commission.
As Chair of Telecentre-Europe (TE), I represented our organization together with Laure Lemaire, Director of Interface3 and former member of TE's Managing Board.
In a short presentation, I introduced TE's objectives, membership and main activities to the EC officials and the Digital Champions from 20 European countries. Most attention went to the explanation of TE's Digital Inclusion Campaign Get Online Week 2013, and I invited all Digital Champions to become the Ambassadors of the campaign in their countries and to promote Get Online Week's activities to their national stakeholders and mass media.
I also presented the JRC-IPTS research project MIREIA (Measuring the Impact of e-Inclusion Actors in Europe) as TE has been commissioned to carry out the online survey that aims to provide a 'map' of eInclusion actors (online centres, libraries, e-competence centres, social or cultural centres offering public Internet access & training, etc.) operating in Europe.
Again, the Digital Champions were invited to help TE in identifying the Digital Inclusion actors in their countries and to disseminate the research results once the data will be collected (the survey will run between January 2 and February 15, 2013).
After the official presentation, Laure and myself had the opportunity to network and exchange our views with the Digital Champion representatives from Belgium, France, Denmark, Lithuania and other countries.
At the end of the event, I was convinced that this meeting was the beginning of a long term cooperation between Telecentre-Europe and the network of Digital Champions, as we share the same objective: "Every European Digital!"
