Telecentre-Europe Summit 2009 has started today with welcoming speeches in İstanbul. At the begining, Ian Clifford from UK Online Centres and Başak Saral from Youth For Habitat gave some informations about context and history.
The first speaker Akhtar Badshah-Senior Director Community Affairs from Microsoft Corporation talked about new networking models and supporting NGO Adoption of New Models for Social Change. According to his speech, leverage technology, support technology, build capacity and expand networks started to play more important role of Telecentres. And he said that being innovative, relevant, visible, transparent, collaborative and risk takers will be make us succeed.
The second speaker Richard Fuchs’s speech was about history of telecentres and why the European Telecentre Network is so important. One of the important point of speech was world ICT Trends. He highligthed mobile internet usage.
Before the last speaker Paul Timmers-Head of eInclusion from European Commission, we watched Florin Lupescu’s message video from DG Information Society and Media. Timmers’s speech was about e-Inclusion for participation and innovation. He talked about these subjects: social and economic challenges, maturing of the information society, how to trackle the remaining and future digital divide. With questions and answers, speeches finished.
