The first event designed to inform NEET (young people who are “Not in Education, Employment, or Training) about the possibilities being provided by Youth Guarantee in Lithuania was held on September 7 in Lithuania’s city Marijampolė.

Business sector and public sector have joined forces and have arranged a number of events throughout the country where young people who are not working or studying can come and be informed about all the possibilities for them.

Participants will have to complete a creative and structural task while learning about opportunities for them.

One of the activities is organized by association Langas į ateitį. It is a battle of minds, designed for multiple groups of participants. It is full of IT related questions and was designed to encourage people to take interest in IT sector and not to shy away from it. This is an effort to help them understand that they already might have some knowledge of the field and that it is not as scary as they might think.

While we try to encourage them to think of the IT sector as a possible carrier path, there are also company visits that would introduce youngsters to local businesses, show them the employment possibilities, provide an opportunity to speak with potential employers, and find out more about their needs and proposals for young workers.
