Youth Work HD online platform is in the final week of piloting

Online educational platform designed for youth workers is in its final development stages.

Youth Work HD is a strategic partnership that aims to set a common ground for youth workers in 21st century that would define a standard in terms of cooperation between organizations in the field of youth work and open it up to cross-sectoral cooperation.

As a first step toward the definition of the most effective and relevant elements to set up the online platform, a research was carried out, which aimed to meet the needs of youth workers in terms of skills and competences development. Later on, educational modules and online platform were developed based on the research results.

Online educational platform consists of 4 modules -

(1) Reaching out to young people,

(2) Cooperation with relevant stakeholders,

(3) Policy impact/Influence in the Field of Youth Work and

(4) Usage of Digital Tools.

Course lasts approximately 60 hours (15 per module) and consists of interesting and relevant lessons containing videos, quizzes, illustrated and interactive content, infographics and examples from practice. The course is available in 4 languages – Croatian, Italian, Latvian, and Lithuanian.

The platform is now in its final week of piloting. The whole piloting period was 8 weeks. During this period participants were constantly asked to evaluate the educational material and the platform.

After the piloting activity, a detailed analysis of the evaluations will be conducted and the platform and educational materials will be changed and/or updated accordingly. About 100 youth workers from 4 partner countries are involved in the pilot course. The highest interest comes from Croatia where over 50% of participants come from. Preliminary evaluations suggest that participants are very satisfied with the material on the platform. National moderators of the localized courses say that the communication with participants is ongoing and good, that the participants are satisfied with the course and other than some small technical issues that were immediately fixed there were no problems with the platform.

After the evaluation and finalization, the platform will be opened to the public. Interested youth workers will be able to join the course from anywhere and at any time. The fun part is that you can access the platform from any mobile device as well, which means you can earn your badges and certificates on the bus, on the toilette or even on the beach.

What we found interesting is that even though our course still isn’t piloted we already got two inquiries from other consortiums asking to pilot their online courses for youth workers on Youth Work HD platform. Our plan is to create guidelines for other interested parties that would like to use Youth Work HD platform.
