What does your organization do (100-word description)
UNDP is the UN's global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 166 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the people of UNDP and our wide range of partners. World leaders have pledged to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, including the overarching goal of cutting poverty in half by 2015. UNDP's network links and coordinates global and national efforts to reach these Goals.
What digital skills training or activities do you or does your organization offer (if any)?
We believe that ICT plays a central role in strengthening local economic development, encouraging active citizenship and empowering social communities in the Egypt and the MENA Region. For this reason, the UNDP Innovation and Creativity for Development team is supporting the creation of ICT-based solutions and training materials to support entrepreneurs & SMEs and to boost social innovation among young people in Egypt. To do so, we are closely working with public institutions, NGOs, telecentres (IT Clubs) and private sector. How did you learn about this community?
Why would yo like to join the network?
We are implementing a large number of activities through the network of telecentres (called IT Clubs in Egypt)countrywide in the fields of education, e-health, economic development and ICT for Disabilities. I would like to learn more about other experiences and to share information and tools.
